Why should water from Reverse Osmosis be re-mineralized?

by Anchor Water Filters |

RO is not a selective process. It removes bad as well as good minerals from your water. Low mineralized water have adverse effects like high corrosion potential, dietary deficiency causing risks of heart and other diseases. The WHO recommends 10 mg/L of Magnesium and 30 mg/L of Calcium for drinking water.

What is alkaline water?
‘Alkaline’ refers to pH level, a number that ranges from 0 to 14. Something with a pH less than 7 is acidic and that with greater than 7 is alkaline. The pH of regular drinking water is around 7. Chemicals and gases can mix and react with water to change its pH level to make it acidic or alkaline. Because of higher pH level of Alkaline water, it can neutralize acids in the body.

Re-mineralization
At the end of the filtration process, water should be made to pass through an additional stage to add essential minerals such as Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium back to water. This process of re-mineralization is similar to how spring water gets formed.

Make Your Water Healthier
You can gain the benefits of alkaline mineralized water at home by putting your tap water through a Alkaline Mineral RO water filter system. In addition to changing the pH level of your tap water, these systems add minerals, too, making it more alkaline and healthier and tastier to drink..
